The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Southern Colorado have been a gift to the Colorado Springs community since 1987. Here at Carpet Care Craftsman, we’ve had the privilege of supporting RMHC since 1989. We want you to know about this amazing charity so here are our five reasons we support the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado:
1. We know what it’s like to have a child who needs medical care.
Our owner, Allen Shipley, and his wife faced a challenging situation when their daughter had a severe medical emergency. We know what it’s like to need help in such a trying situation. You can read more about our story here.
2. The RMHC keeps families together when their children are sick
When a family has a critically ill child the last thing they need is to figure out housing and care when they have to be away from home to be near a hospital. The Ronald McDonald House in Colorado Springs is a huge home away from home for up to twenty families at a time. They provide a comfortable, safe place for families who are displaced because of the needs of a critically ill child.
3. They provide warm meals for families with critically ill children.
Through their Meals that Mend program, the RMHC provides warm meals for families in need every day of the week. When a family is experiencing the stress of being away from home and taking care of a sick child, a home-cooked meal can reduce their financial burden and help those families know they’re not alone.
4. They provide family rooms at hospitals
The RMCH provides family rooms so families and their children have a place to relax, feel comfortable, and access the amenities they need when they are at the hospital.
5. They meet the needs of families in distress in so many other ways
The RMHC helps families every day in many unique ways. They have several other support programs all designed to show families love. Whether giving families of newborns baskets of baby supplies, making handmade cards for families and their children, facilitating visits with therapy dogs, and so much more.
